From the Desk of CCCA President Elizabeth Bowerman
With hopeful and optimistic hearts, the CCCA Board wishes you all a Happy New Year!
2020 was a year that challenged our collective spirit. As I look back at 2020, I am thankful for the support and encouragement of our community as CCCA worked to keep a spotlight on the need for conservation in our fast-growing county and to focus attention on the importance of nature to our community’s physical, mental, emotional, and economic health. In this time of uncertainty, fear, and frustration, Nature has provided a sanctuary and a place to escape, refresh, and renew.
The new year is here, and we are looking forward to holding in-person programs again and seeing you at community events once COVID safety protocols allow. Until that time, our monthly Conservation Insider newsletter will continue to bring you CCCA news, and our Spotlight topics will highlight aspects of nature that delight and sustain us.
Starting in January we will begin an every-other-month series of Zoom programs with guest speakers. Tune in January 12th at 6:00 PM to hear Mark Enders, Watershed Protection Program Manager for the City of New Braunfels. (For more information click here.)
As we set out on this new year, we say good bye and thank you to departing Board Member Leah Cuddeback, and welcome five new members to our Board of Directors. (Link: www.comalconservation.org/board-of-directors.html)
CCCA is also very pleased to welcome our newly established Advisory Board – a group of talented, experienced community members who will help guide and advance CCCA’s conservation efforts.
Preserving the precious natural resources and rural character of our county for future generations will take a village and we encourage you to join us and become part of important work ahead. Join our “Friends of CCCA” group by clicking on the box that pops up first on our website
Wishing you all the best in the coming year,
